Welcome! My name is Jordan Long Sheridan and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #141951). I am a Los Angeles native, currently living in San Francisco, and see clients in person in San Francisco, CA and virtually throughout California.

My passions and specializations are working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families who are affected by cancer, chronic illness, and other medical challenges, as well as OCD and anxiety disorders.

I have over four years of experience working with people impacted by cancer through multiple non-profit cancer support organizations as well as in private practice. I currently lead support groups for caregivers/loved ones, and young adult patients/survivors through Cancer Support Community San Gabriel Valley, and for women with breast cancer through Bay Area Young Survivors. For five years I volunteered as a mentor through Walk with Sally to support children affected by cancer. In my practice, I have worked with people affected by cancer in various capacities as children, adults, caregivers, families, survivors, and bereaved individuals. I also see children, adolescents, young adults and families who are impacted by other medical challenges such as autoimmune disorders, degenerative diseases, chronic pain, chronic genetic diseases, and medical trauma.

I have seven+ years of experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults who struggle with anxiety and life transitions. I have specific expertise of treating anxiety disorders including panic disorder, OCD, specific phobias, and generalized anxiety. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked with children, adolescents and families as a cognitive trainer, ADHD testing coach, occupational therapy assistant, and camp counselor.

I hold a Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy degree from the University of Southern California, and Bachelor of Science Degree in psychology from Southern Methodist University. I am the author of the children’s book “Anxiety In My Body” which was released in February of 2025.

When I am not in sessions, you can find me watching documentaries, reading psychological thrillers, trying new restaurants, and enjoying the outdoors with my dog and husband!

WHY OCD AND ANXIETY?

I was guided towards the career path as a therapist following personal lifelong challenges with generalized anxiety and panic disorder that came to a head in my college years. My anxiety began in childhood with manifestations of OCD and panic attacks, however I was never taught about anxiety as a child and was completely unaware of how debilitating it could be until it completely altered my life. Seeing a therapist changed my life for the better, and I realized the strength of the mind-body connection and importance of taking care of our minds.

This is why I am a therapist. To support others the same way that my multiple therapists have supported me with my mental health. There is no one-size fits all to therapy, and I will provide you with individualized care to help you learn tools and be your best self.

Why cancer and chronic illness?

Like many of you, my family has been impacted by cancer. Cancer has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, specifically with my mom’s 40+ year commitment to finding a cure for breast cancer. She passed on this passion to me at a young age, and I am a proud member of the Susan G. Komen Foundation “Pink Bubble,” so that no one fights cancer alone. Through my family, friends, and work at non profit organizations, I have seen firsthand how cancer, chronic illness, and medical difficulties affect the entire family unit, and how crucial mental health support is during this time. Furthermore, I live with chronic illness and understand the anxiety and life changes that come with physical ailments.

My personal experience with chronic illness and family history of cancer demonstrate just how powerfully physical illness transforms one's life. Illness has an effect on all parts of life, and effect people mentally just as much as physically. Physical and mental health are extraordinarily intertwined and I am here to support your mind during this physically challenging time.
